  1. There will be no walks allowed in minor league softball. The Player Pitcher will pitch until the batter puts the ball in play, strikes out or has 4 balls called. If 4 balls have been called, the Coach/Adult pitcher will come in and the at bat will continue with the existing strike count until the player either strikes out, puts the ball in play or meets the maximum 7 pitch count . Normal rules regarding foul balls with 2 strikes on the batter apply. If a foul ball is hit on the 7th pitch the batter gets another pitch until they either let it go by, swing and miss or hit it in play.
  2. The 5th & 6th Innings will be strictly Coach/Adult pitch. During Coach/Adult pitching the batter will be called out after 3 strikes or 7 pitches from the adult/coach. . If a foul ball is hit on the 7th pitch the batter gets another pitch until they either let it go by, swing and miss or hit it in play. THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF SEASON WILL BE COACH/ADULT PITCH ONLY. It will be noted on schedule when kid pitch will take effect.
  3. When the ball is returned to the pitcher, who is standing within the Pitching Circle, all play must cease. If a runner is less than half way between bases when play ceases because the pitcher has possession of the ball within the Pitching Circle, the runner will return to the base previously achieved.
  4. Coach/Adult or Manager may pitch to one or both teams. Coaches may wear a glove while pitching.
  5. Coach or Manager may act as umpire.
  6. No artificial noise makers will be allowed during the game or at EJLL Fields. Example: Air Horns or pop cans with rocks.
  7. No cheering while batter is in the batter’s box.
  8. If the coach or manager has a problem or concern with the opposing team, they need to call time out and talk with the umpire. Do not direct such comments to any players.

Base Stealing

There will be no base stealing at anytime.

Nine (9) Batter Rule

  1. During an inning, the team playing offense will stay at bat until there are three (3) outs or until nine (9) players have taken their turn at bat, whichever comes first. Before the ninth player bats, the Coach of the offensive team will announce the last batter is coming up to bat. The inning to follow must be started with batters 10,11, 12…… until three (3) outs or nine (9) batters. Only nine (9) players will be allowed in the field on defense.
  2. Ball Hit: If the ninth (9th) batter hits the ball, the play continues until the base runner is put out, or a defensive player with the ball touches home plate.
  3. Strike Out: If the ninth (9th) batter strikes out, play is dead.
  4. All members on the Team roster must be included in the batting order for the entire game.

Game Length

  1. Two (2) hour time limit: No new inning will start after the 2-hour limit has elapsed. (A new inning starts at the moment the third out is made in the previous inning.).
  2. A game may go 2 ½ or 3 hours in order to finish last inning.

SUBSTITUTION RULES AND PLAY TIME REQUIREMENTS FOR PLAYERS WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO ACCORDING TO LITTLE LEAGUE RULES (See Section 3.03).

Protest committee

  1. The protest committee will consist of one (1) person from each league. The A.D.A will assist the committee when needed.
